Rio 2016 has thrown all kinds of weather at the Olympic sailing competition, from hot and humid days to chilly and rainy ones. So the people working at World Sailing have been grateful for the technical apparel supplied by clothing partner Zhik.

World Sailing CEO, Andy Hunt said, 'The weather really has given us a bit of everything so far at Rio 2016. Everyone is working long days here to deliver the best possible sailing event, and you can only do that when you have the right clothing for the right occasion. With the excellent range of apparel that Zhik have provided for us in Brazil, we're always comfortable.”

Founded in 2004, Zhik bring an innovative approach to the sailing market and continue to develop and evolve their range for on the water and around the dock, combining performance with style.

The five-year sponsorship agreement between Zhik and World Sailing will run until the end of 2020 and will see both partners work collaboratively to further develop and market the sport in new and existing territories. Later this year World Sailing will launch a retail range of branded Zhik clothing which will be available for purchase at all of World Sailing's events and online.

'Zhik's innovation in the sailing market is well known and well established,” said Hunt. 'We are excited about working with this forward-thinking company, the global leader in marine apparel, over the coming years.'

Malcolm Page, Head of Media at World Sailing and two-time Olympic gold medallist commented, 'Zhik's technical clothing was crucial to my performance as an athlete and now it's just as key for the World Sailing team to deliver exceptional output. The Zhik brand is well regarded within the sport and they are the perfect fit for World Sailing to attract a new wave of fans and followers.'

Simon Payne, Zhik Global Sales Director said, 'Zhik is delighted that our apparel has been so well received by World Sailing's staff working at Rio 2016. So many Olympic athletes are now using our technical apparel, it makes sense for the governing body for the sport to go the same way.”

Brian Conolly, Founding Director of Zhik, said, 'We are honoured to be the apparel choice for World Sailing. This new partnership symbolises our desire to be at the top of the sport.”
