Sailors from around the world will be welcomed to Toronto, Canada for the 2014 Open 2.4mR World Championship (September 26th to October 3th). This will be the first time the 2.4mR world championships are held in Canada. Hosting will be The National Yacht Club, which is located on the shores of Lake Ontario near the heart of city.

The event is expected to draw sailors from countries around the world including Britain, Finland, and Sweden. Canadians will be from coast to coast and of course our neighbours from the south will join us as well.

The National Yacht Club is a friendly club with a keen keelboat racing membership. The club is fully accessible for sailors with disabilities. It has an upper level restaurant/bar and outdoor eating area with elevator access.

Toronto is a large, cosmopolitan city and is one of the most diverse cities in the world. As a result of this diversity it has an array of attractions and a rich cultural life. From dining, the arts, sports, leisure, and entertainment there is something for everyone. Public transportation is available by bus, train, subway, streetcar and taxi. Bike trails and walking paths are accessible from alongside the yacht club.

Racing will take place on Lake Ontario. This freshwater lake is the 14th largest in the world. It is 311 km long and up to 85 km wide. There are no tidal forces. In September the average lake temperature is about 18 degrees C. Wind speeds in September/October average about 10 knots making one of the best times to sail. The yacht club offers direct access to the lake as you sail to the racecourse area. The racing area is unlimited and can be adjusted for any size of fleet.

We look forward to having you and your family join us in Toronto, Event website
