The regatta will feature the Bank of Beirut Chairman's Cup Race from Muscat to Khasab. The 230 nautical-mile flagship event will start on 10 November.

Meanwhile, organisers of the Dubai-Muscat Race, which precedes the Muscat Regatta, have promised to expand the event this year. Organisers are expecting at least 20 teams to participate this year.

The Dubai-Muscat course will take the yachts up the west coast of UAE to the Strait of Hormuz, where sailors often face fierce currents in the backdrop of the Musandam coastline, and then down the east coast of Oman to Muscat. Besides teams from UAE and Oman, the event has generated a lot of interest from participants from the UK, Kuwait and Qatar.
