Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image exhibition at the World Sailing conference Gilles Morelle
The Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image award keeps growing and improving its structures. Having implemented new and fairer rules in 2016, the contest today announces that the top twenty pictures, selected by the international Jury, will be exhibited for the first time during World Sailing’s annual conference in Barcelona (November 5 - 13).

World Sailing’s annual conference reassembles World Sailing member national authorities, Committees, Sub-committees, Commissions, Class Associations, sailors, event organizers, boat manufacturers and observers. Up to 700 delegates are expected in Barcelona this year.

' We are delighted to host the world’s best yacht racing images during our Annual Conference in Barcelona ', said World Sailing CEO Andy Hunt. ' The Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image features all aspects of our sport, from dinghy and Olympic sailing to professional events across the world. It illustrates the formidable variety and complexity of our favorite sport. '

The partnership between World Sailing and the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image will provide great visibility to the world’s best photographers, and showcase their work to their current and potential future clients.

The delegates from World Sailing’s annual conference will be asked to vote for their favorite picture. Their votes will be added to the voices from the delegates of the Yacht Racing Forum (Malta, November 28-29), and will contribute to the election of the winner of the Yacht Racing Forum award.

Submissions for the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image award are currently open, until October 13. Three world class sailing photographers will pre-select the top eighty pictures that will allow the international Jury to vote : Rick Tomlinson, Christian Février and Eric Brin.

The International Jury, consisting of Andy Hunt (World Sailing CEO, UK), Keith Taylor (marine writer, editor and marine publicist, NZL), Antonio Palma (CEO, Mirabaud & Cie SA, SUI), Anna-Lena Elled (yachting journalist and picture editor, SWE), and Ian Walker (pro sailor, UK) will then select the world’s best yacht racing photograph of the year.
The winning photographer will receive the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image award and € 1’000 prize money.

Two secondary prizes will be awarded : The Yacht Racing Forum Award (selected by the delegates attending the World Sailing annual conference and the Yacht Racing Forum) and the Public Award (selected by the votes from the public on Facebook). The winners will each receive € 500 prize money.

Started in 2010, the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image award is the world’s premier photography competition dedicated to the sport of sailing, celebrating the very best yacht racing image taken during the year, and which best represents the essence and excitement of the sport.

Open to professional photographers, it provides an opportunity for yacht racing specialists to display their work and share their passion with a wide audience. More than one million people saw the pictures submitted for the last edition of the contest.
