Garda Trentino Olympic Week 2013 Roberto Vuilleumier
The 2013 Italian Olympic Week Garda has come to a close. We look at the action that took place via comments and video interviews with sailors that competed.

Quotes from Annalise Murphy:

'It was nice to win the event because I have been leading quite alot of events lately and things haven’t gone so well for me in the medal races which has been disappointing...So, it is important for me to go out today. I did not want to end up messing up the medal race. It was definitely a worth while thing for me'.

'I don’t think this format works...'

'ISAF is trying to make sailing more exciting.'

Quotes from Andy Maloney:

'The Race was exciting because the places were changing so much'.

'Right in the last hundred meters or so, I got the last gust of wind and probably crossed the line just in front of him'.

'I said I was going to go and just try and win the race and have a good day and did that.'

'Today probably proves how dumb the format they've tried for this event is'.

'I think going into today, the only two people who really deserved to win over the course of the five days were Tom Burton and Tonci who were close on points. But the other four of us probably didn't really, none of us really deserve to win the regatta you know. It really proves how this format shouldn't carry on.'

'Going into today anyone had a chance of winning, which was silly in a sense.'

Quotes from Tom Burton and Ryan Palk:

'It was pretty intense' -Tom Burton

'I guess with this format it does not really matter how well you sailed this week.' - Tom Burton

'It’s certainly good if you are on the right side of it, it’s pretty heart breaking if you are on the wrong side of it'. - Ryan Palk

'TB did deserve to win this regatta he was the most consistent'. - Ryan Palk

'It could be pretty heart breaking if that was the system at the Olympics'. - Ryan Palk

'No one really knew what was going on.' - Tom Burton

Quote from Tina Mihelic:

'It was really exciting, really windy, not really my conditions, but I gave it my best and I was hiking really hard and in the end finished third, so in the end I’ll be third overall'.

Quotes from Tonci Stipanovic:

'It is okay if they are just testing, but this is the worst format I have ever sailed. I think if they are trying to find the worst it is not possible. This is the bottom of any combinations'.

'Last Olympic cycle it was the best combination format with one medal race'.

Quotes from Cagla Donertas:

'It was good and actually, I like this system because until the last day, you should compete and stay close to each other'.

Quotes from Daniel Mihelic:

'I think I finished first last race, but I am not 100% sure. The coaches watching the finish line saw that I finished half a boat length front of the New Zealand Guy'.
