ISAF Match Race Rankings – 10 December 2014

Taylor Canfield (ISV) and Camilla Ulrikkeholm (DEN) will start 2015 as World number one in the Open and Women’s ISAF Match Race Rankings following exceptional performances throughout 2014.

Canfield has been a mainstay at the top of the pack throughout the Alpari World Match Racing Tour whilst Ulrikkeholm claimed the overall title in the Women’s International Match Race Series.

Open Rankings
With only ISAF Grade three, four and five regattas adding to this ranking release, there is no impact on the top ranked skippers so Taylor Canfield (ISV) maintains his position at World number one ahead of Ian Williams (GBR) and Mathieu Richard (FRA). Further down the list there are some big movers and shakers.

Amongst the ISAF Grade three regattas were national championships in Great Britain, New Zealand, Greece and France. World number two Ian Williams (GBR) claimed the British title with Josh Junior (NZL), more frequently seen on the Finn circuit, winning the honours in New Zealand.

Jason Spanomanolis (GRE) defended his title at the Hellenic National Match Racing Championship and sees his ranking improve by 70 places as he climbs up to World #147 whilst Kevin Pepponet (FRA) makes his debut on the ISAF Match Racing World Rankings at World #393 after winning the Championnat de France Espoirs de Match Racing.

Jeremy Koo (MAS) won the ISAF Grade 3 Liga Layer Malaysia in Pu Duyong, taking the title ahead of Nurul Elia Anuar (MAS) who moves up 385 places to World # 354.

Moving up 40 places to World #83 is George Brasell (NZL), after claiming the 2014 Musto International Youth MR Championships in Australia.


Women’s Rankings
Camilla Ulrikkeholm (DEN) jostled with Anna Kjellberg (SWE) and Stephanie Roble (USA) throughout the 2014 Women’s International Match Race Series. Ulrikkeholm took the title and this is reflected in the Women’s ISAF Match Race Rankings as the Dane holds firm followed the Swedish and American racers.

Two ISAF Grade three regattas in the current period, the US Women's Match Race Championship in Oyster Bay, USA and the Championnat de France Promotion de MR Feminin in Portrieux, France, ensures there’s some movement below the top competitors heading into 2015.

Anne Claire Le Berre (FRA) picked up the title and maximum points in Portrieux and as a result climbs up one spot to World number five. Pauline Courtois (FRA) lost out to Le Berre but walked away with a good haul of points to ensure significant movement up the Women’s Rankings. Courtois leaps up from World #22 to World #10, a personal best for the French competitor.

Sophie Riot (FRA) rounded off the Portrieux podium and is one of the biggest movers of the month, climbing from World #114 to World #46, another personal best.

Roble won the US title in Oyster Bay which solidified her spot at World number three. Nicole Breault (USA) came through in second and is at World #19. Katie Maxim (USA) took home bronze and remains at World #23.

As 2014 draws to a close, there are 1514 skippers on the open rankings and 150 skippers on the women’s rankings.
