High Performance Yacht Design conference during Volvo OR stopover

The High Performance Yacht Design conference is jointly organised by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (NZ) and The University of Auckland and will be held at the Marine Event Centre in Auckland to coincide with the Volvo Ocean Race stopover.
I
t attracts some of the world’s most preeminent yacht designers and is recognised as one of the top three conferences in this area internationally.
The prestigious event is on from March 8-11, 2015 in Auckland
The aim of this conference is to enable the latest research in high performance yacht design to be shared amongst the leading practitioners from around the world. The theme for this years conference is foiling with the tripartite combination of aerodynamics, hydrodynamics and structures.
The conference has attracted delegates from 13 countries presenting 30 technical papers over the 3 days. It has strong local support from NZTE, ATEED and leading export companies North Sails, Southern Spars & Gurit (Asia Pacific).
The conference also includes a special open session where Peter Montgomery will be talking to Knut Frostad the Volvo Race CEO about Evolution of the Volvo Ocean Race and the move to a one design boat.
It is still possible to register for this conference which opens with an Icebreaker function on Sunday 8th March and runs until Wednesday 11th March. Special day-pass rates are available for local delegates.
