Extreme Sailing Series - Seve Jarvin and his all-Aussie crew raced in their first Extreme Sailing Series event on board GAC Pindar this weekend.

The crew, competing together for the first time, sailed in challenging conditions in Singapore.

GAC Pindar finished in 12th place, and secured one podium, following four days out on the water. Team Alinghi top the leaderboard on 206 points, finishing 33 points ahead of The Wave Muscat in second.

Speaking from Singapore, GAC Pindar skipper Seve Jarvin said: 'The last few days have been a steep learning curve, but having never sailed together, the crew and I expected it to be a challenge at first. We have improved each day out on the water, which is very encouraging. We entered the series to learn to sail catamarans with the world's leading sailors, and the ambition is to be winning by the time we reach our home event in Sydney later this year.'

GAC Pindar principal Andrew Pindar added: 'Seve and his crew have done an excellent job to compete on a difficult course, in challenging conditions but we are less concerned with the result. What really excites us is having the opportunity to nurture raw talent and this team has that in abundance. Our ambition is to help shape the future of sailing and we are confident that this crew will demonstrate how our investments in young talent will, over-time, produce the best sailors in the world.'

Oman will host Act 2 of the 2014 Extreme Sailing Series from 19-22 March.
