On day two of the Extreme Sailing Series in Singapore Seve Jarvin and his GAC Pindar crew responded valiantly after a crash to secure a second place finish in the final race of the day.

GAC Pindar were set back before the second flight, when a freak gust of wind caused Jarvin and his all-Australian crew to collide with the Marina Bay dock. The collision not only broke the bowsprit, but also meant the crew missed out on the next four races.

As soon as the GAC Pindar bowsprit was removed, Jarvin and his team set to work, determined to return to racing as quickly as possible. The hard work paid dividends when the crew finished in fifth place in the twelfth flight of the Act, before they sealed second place in the Aberdeen Challenge Cup.

GAC Pindar Principal, Andrew Pindar says: 'As the team were preparing for the start of today’s second race, a sharp, unexpected gust of wind changed direction, catching the crew off guard. Our GAC Pindar boat clipped the side of the dock, breaking the bowsprit.'

Pindar continues: 'We’re proud of the hard work the crew put in to ensure they were able to race again today and we’re looking to move up the leaderboard over the weekend.'

After day two in Singapore, GAC Pindar currently lies in eighth place with 64 points.

Racing continues Saturday February 7 at 14:30 (GMT+8). Follow the live racing from 16:00 local time (GMT+8) herhttp://sailing.gacpindar.com/live-streamhere [Sorry, this link had a problem].
