At the opening Act of the Extreme Sailing Series Seve Jarvin’s all-Australian GAC Pindar crew ended on a high, with a race victory and two third place finishes, to secure sixth position overall in Singapore.
Team GAC Pindar would have challenged for a podium position, had they not suffered misfortune on the first two days of racing. A damaged rudder on day one and a broken bowsprit on day two forced them out of five races in total.
However, with four race victories, crossing the line as runners up twice and five third place finishes, Jarvin and his crew have shown the established field that they will be a real threat throughout the Extreme Sailing Series.
GAC Pindar Principal, Andrew Pindar says: 'I’m thrilled with our performance throughout the week, especially when you consider the fact that we couldn’t finish five races. Without this, we would’ve been in contention for a much higher position.'
Pindar continues: 'The results this week give us a lot of belief and I think we’re going to have an excellent season. It’s been a very enjoyable event and the race village has been teeming with people all week, which is great to see.'
Team GAC Pindar ended Act 1 of the Extreme Sailing Series in Singapore in sixth place with 182 points.
The Extreme Sailing Series moves to Muscat, Oman (12-14 March 2015), with Jarvin and his crew aiming to seal their first podium position of the series.
