Extreme Sailing Series - Down to the wire battle today saw The Wave snatch the Act victory from the hands of the Danish SAP Extreme Sailing Team, the previous Act leaders, in the final race of the regatta.
Despite showcasing a winning formula this week, the SAP Extreme Sailing Team were eventually denied being crowned Act champions by local favourites the Wave by just two points. Throughout the Act in Muscat, SAP Extreme Sailing Team were on a mission, nailing confidence boosting early races to take a deserved second place – a great follow up to their podium finish in Singapore this year.
Jes Gram-Hansen, Co-Skipper of the SAP Extreme Sailing Team, commented: 'We’ve always known we could perform at this level, now there is no doubt. I’m so proud of how hard the team worked to get us here. Everything is coming together for us and the decision making is supporting the results we so badly wanted. An Act win was where we were headed but The Wave turned the tables on us in the last race. Featuring on the podium in second place is still a great win for the team'.
