Aquece Rio – International Sailing Regatta - Packed day 4 schedule

by Daniel Smith on 7 Aug 2014
2014 Aquece Rio, Day 3 ISAF
The 324 sailors from 34 nations arose to Brazilian sunshine on day four of Aquece Rio – International Sailing Regatta 2014 with another packed racing day on the cards.

Tuesday’s cold front has passed and clear skies are present across Rio de Janeiro. A morning north westerly breeze at 3-6 knots inside and 10 knots outside the bay was the state of play mid-morning.

Between 11-12 the breeze will change direction to the south east. Inside Guanabara Bay the breeze will vary between 5-15 knots whilst the Copacabana and Niterói courses will see 10-20 knots.

The waves that were present on 5 August will continue to roll through the outside courses with high surf expected. Temperate wise, it will increase and peak at 24 degrees by 15:00.

Having lost a full race day the start time and number of races has been increased with a packed day for all ten events. If the weather plays ball the racing is set for a 12:00 start line.

The leader boards have taken shape and be sure to catch up on Tuesday’s news here.
