After their win in the 34th America's Cup, Oracle Team USA CEO, Russell Coutts was interviewed by leading NZ sports broadcaster, Murray Deaker.
Deaker signed off a 25 year radio and TV broadcasting career just before Christmas, in a career that was punctuated with many incidents. One of those was his founding of the Black Heart campaign, following the departure of Coutts and the 'Tight Five' of Team NZ's winning 1995 and 2000 America's Cup campaigns, when they joined Alinghi.
The bitter campaign was aimed to garner support against the departure of the professional sailors, who many felt had turned that back on their country.
Ten years later the two adversaries met by accident in the main street of Takapuna on Auckland's North Shore and this 30 minute interview, first broadcast in Deaker's weekly TV show, was the result.
