SB20 class match races on spinnaker - 3rd Asia Pacific Student Cup back at the Marina Bay, Singapore Howie Choo
2014 Asia Pacific Student Cup - Marina Bay, arguably one of the most scenic urban spots that Singapore has to offer, will soon play host to some of the top student sailors from around the region, as they come together again for the third edition of the Asia Pacific Student Cup.

The regatta which will be held from 16th - 20th September 2014 follows the exciting match race format will see 12 teams from various tertiary educational institutions battle it out in the bay known for its tricky wind conditions.

Organised by the members of the Singapore Management University (SMU) Sailing Club and sanctioned by Singapore Sailing Federation (SSF), the Asia Pacific Student Cup was started in 2012 following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SMU and SSF in March of the same year to promote keelboat sailing and sailing related initiatives among the tertiary youth in Singapore.

This year, teams from Singapore, Australia, Great Britain, France, Malaysia and Taiwan represent their tertiary institutions on SB20s—small, fast keelboats.

Many of the sailors taking part in the Asia Pacific Student Cup 2014 are seasoned dinghy fleet racers who are just discovering the world of match racing. Whether or not they will prove as successful in the new, arguably more exciting, format has yet to be seen.
