15th Singapore Straits Regatta coming up

The 15th Singapore Straits Regatta, 17th – 21st January 2009, organised by Changi Sailing Club in cooperation with Raffles Marina, Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, Nongsa Point Marina & Resort and SAF Yacht Club, promises to be the largest event yet with International participation from Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

This year’s event is timed to follow on from the Royal Langkawi Regatta, and complements the visit to Singapore of the Volvo Ocean Race. The Volvo teams' farewell party at ONE Degree 15 Marina Club on Saturday 17th January will be the Opening Party for the 15th SSR with both fleets starting their races within 15 minutes of each other the next day.

The first race starts on Saturday 17th January in the waters off Changi Sailing Club and finishes within easy motoring distance of ONE Degree 15 Marina Club

The second race starts near Bedok Jetty off the East Coast of Singapore and finishes in the waters off Batam Island near the fully refurbished Nongsa Point Marina & Resort.

Monday and Tuesday Races are in the waters off Batam and Bintan Islands and we promise you will cater for the largest and the smallest participants. Wednesday is a passage race back to Changi Sailing Club.
