America's Cup- Can multihulls matchrace? You bet! Catch the Video!

by Richard Gladwell on 29 Apr 2011
29/04/2011 - Auckland (NZL) - 34th America’s Cup - AC45 Test Event - Day 5 - Match racing Gilles Martin-Raget / Oracle Racing

Oracle Racing have just posted a video showing a minute or so of the pre-start between two AC45's in moderate breezes.

It gives us a first glimpse of what match racing could be like in wingsailed multihulls with their rapid acceleration and ability to spin on a dime.

We expect to see more video like this next week when the Media Trials get underway, with full trials running at the end of the week off North Head at the entrance to the Waitemata Harbour.
