AIMEX on board with Victorian Government super trade mission

AIMEX Turkey Mission Group 2012 AIMEX
The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) is working closely with the Victorian Government ensuring Victoria’s marine exporters have significant involvement and opportunity in the Victorian Government’s Super Trade Mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Turkey in February 2013.

The mission will be led by the Honourable Louise Asher MP, Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business, and Minister for Tourism and Major Events, State Government of Victoria.

Key Victorian marine exporters together with AIMEX will participate in a Trade Mission to Turkey in late February and then continue on to exhibit at the Dubai International Boat Show. The Victorian Government Super Trade Mission initiative covers many qualified markets and industries including Food & Beverage and Agribusiness, Higher Education, Vocational Education and Training, Water, Infrastructure, Equine, Defence and Marine.

This will be the second consecutive Trade Mission AIMEX has organised to Turkey which will ensure continued profile in the market and further develop business relationships.

While in Turkey the AIMEX contingent will spend time visiting qualified contacts in Antalya and Istanbul while focusing on securing and building relationships with potential agents, distributors and boat builders, and aiming to achieve a better understanding of the business opportunities in Turkey. The Victorian government is also coordinating programmed events and business matching meetings in addition to the site visits.

Following the Trade Mission the Victorian companies will also be supported by the Victorian government to exhibit at the Dubai International Boat show.

AIMEX has organised the Australian Pavilion at the Dubai show for the past seven years generating a strong reputation in this market, an excellent platform for these companies to reap the best of the business opportunities available at this show and in this market. In addition to the show the exhibitors will have the opportunity to visit key boat builders in the UAE.

AIMEX CEO MaryAnne Edwards said 'the Victorian government is committed to driving growth in the marine manufacturing sector'.

'Their support to open up opportunities for Victorian marine exporters has been a key to the success of many companies. Their initiative with this Trade Mission is putting Victoria ahead of the rest. Being able to visit markets first hand with the support of the Victoria government and staff has been the driving force for many companies to take the plunge into these markets.'

Participating Victorian businesses include Activ Concepts, Barniclerid, Glowfast, Marine Tech Industries Australia, MultiPanel, Palm Products, Pyrotek Noise Control, Ronstan and Vuplex.

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is Victoria’s second-largest value-added export region after South East Asia. The region is a significant importer of Victorian goods, representing the single largest importer of Victorian automobiles and a substantial importer of food and beverage. Turkey is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

The UAE is a significant market for Australian marine exporters and to this end AIMEX has ensured that key figures from the UAE, Erwin Bamps COO of Gulf Craft, and Farrokh Golchin, an industry consultant based in the UAE, will be participating in the 2013 Australian Superyacht and Marine Export Conference (ASMEX) to be staged at Sanctuary Cove, Queensland on 21-22 May immediately prior to the 25th anniversary of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
