People who enjoy boating have been found to have a greater degree of satisfaction in key areas of their lives, according to a survey by Discover boating in the US. Not only are their lungs full of fresh sea air, their physical fitness and overall health were rated higher than their non-boating counterparts.
They also rated higher in leadership abilities, the performance of their children in school, family togetherness and even their love lives.
“Spending time with your family and friends aboard a boat is one of life’s most pleasurable pursuits and now there’s data that indicates boating’s benefits stay with you long after the experience is over,” said Pepper Schwartz, PhD, sociologist and relationship expert. “Anyone looking for a new way to enrich their time together with family and friends will find boating is an outstanding choice.”
Maybe it’s the new decade that has inspired people to evaluate their lives, but people are shrugging off the GFC and getting back to what really matters – work-life balance and leisure time spent with friends and family.
As boat ownership figures rise around Australia, boat membership programs are making owning a boat easier and more affordable than ever before.
Now recreational boating comes with all the pleasure and none of the hassles traditionally associated with maintenance, cleaning, berthing and keeping a boat. Add to that, a friendly social network you can access as much or as little as you want and membership is truly rewarding!
Two pioneers in the industry, Leisure Boating Club Melbourne and Sydney Boating Club have formed an alliance so their customers can extend their boating fun to include the Yarra River and Port Phillip Bay, as well as Sydney Harbour and beyond.
Members enjoy access to a fleet of fully-maintained luxury motorboats, such as Sunrunner, Riviera and Powercat, five-star valet service, no ongoing costs or capital outlay, and full training and support to ensure you get the most out of your membership. The programs also offer flexible conditions and fair weighting for usage during the popular warm months.
Now at no extra cost, members can use their boating privileges in each city, since both boat clubs are conveniently located at d’Albora Marinas.
Customers receive the d’Albora reciprocal berthing rights at all d’Albora Marinas, including free berthing at spots such as Victoria Harbour in Docklands Melbourne, and in Sydney at Cabarita Point and The Spit.
“It’s a great way for new boaties and families wishing to try before they buy or for people who want to boat regularly, with no fuss,” says Joy King, Director of Leisure Boating Melbourne, adding that memberships are cheaper than a year’s boat berthing fees.
“It’s also ideal for corporate entertaining and employee incentive schemes, as you have regular access to top of the range boats, with none of the drawbacks of ownership,” says Delwyn Clark, Director at Sydney Boating Club.
Testimonials from content members could not put it any better. As one corporate client wrote: “Our Leisure Boating Membership has become an integral part of our client entertainment. I have no doubt it has enhanced our relationships with clients and secured sales for our business.”
And a family: “After playing games around the table all afternoon, followed by a wonderful dinner onboard, the kids were very excited to be sleeping on the boat. The look on their faces was priceless. As we sipped our way through a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, while the boat rocked the kids to sleep, we realised we had discovered Heaven.”
