Sydney Harbour Hop

by Maggie Joyce on 10 Aug 2009
Vaucluse Bay Sydney Harbour - Sydney Harbour Hop Maggie Joyce - Mariner Boating Holidays http://www.marinerboating.com.au
Join the inaugural Sydney Harbour Hop, this 'Yachtober' long weekend - an event to include the three major harbour yacht clubs.

Enjoy racing, entertainment and special events as we explore Sydney Harbour in an all out hop from the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron to the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia and then on to the Middle Harbour Yacht Club.

The event is open to all participants who own their own yacht, want to enter with a charter yacht or as an individual looking to enjoy the long weekend on the water with new friends and crew.

The event will be the first conducted by Mariner Boating Holidays on our Sydney waters and many of the participants will be reuniting after having sailed in one of the many successful overseas events conducted by Mariner over the past ten years. The event management team at Mariner Boating has organised a diverse event that will hold attraction for all yachties.

The weekend will kick off with a complementary wine tasting of Robert Oatley Premium wines followed by a BBQ at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron. As usual there will be some casual racing and a little cruising and the social function at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia will rival those of our overseas events. A very special night with our West Indian friend Errol and his Caribbean Soul band providing the entertainment to accompany a sumptuous dinner upstairs in the Freya Room.

Needless to say the racing will use the now world famous Trev’s International
Timing System to handicap the fleet and create a level playing field!

Fortune favours the Beneteaus!
Thank you, Huey… Some sun, and a tad of wind means it is time to go racing... Ahead of the annual Beneteau Pittwater Regatta by Flagstaff Marine the weather had not been all that grand. So, peaks of sun migrating to distinct patches, and the occasional zephyr turning into a waft, then on to a calm breeze was fortunate.
