70 Sabot Sailors aged 6 to 16 participated in the Sabot Association's Milo Training Camp and Sprint Series over three days hosted by Drummoyne Junior Sailing Club.
Events such as this organised by the Sth NSW Sabot Sailing Association are only possible due to the commitment of many volunteer parents.
8 Coaches, all of whom are successful sailors in their own right provided direction, correction and tuning tips to the Sabot sailors on the water and ashore.
Sailors came from Abbotsford, Dobroyd, Drummoyne,Georges River, Gosford, Greenwich, Hunters Hill, Lane Cove,Vaucluse and Yarra Bay to sharpen their skills for Club Racing this Summer and in preparation for the State Championships being hosted by Vaucluse on Sydney Harbour and Sunshine at Lake Macquarie. The State Championship will also be the selection series for the Zone to send a Team of 12 x 1up sailors and 6x 2up crews to Sandringham for the National Championships over the New Year break. Many families will also travel to Sandringham for the popular Open Sabot Week Regatta that runs in conjunction with the National Championship.
The training was on the water surrounding Spectacle, Snapper and Cockatoo Islands with the Sabot sailors experiencing a range of wind strengths and directions.
