Australian Round the World Star at CYCA

Whether he’s sailing around the world - again - or windsurfing across Bass Strait, it’s hard to catch Australian round the world yachtsman Nick Moloney on dry land but on Wednesday 3rd May, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s members and guests will have a rare opportunity to hear him speak.
Still only 38 years of age, Nick Moloney has raced around our globe three times, in three different ways, and on the way set an outright round the world non-stop World Speed Sailing Record.
Nick has represented Australia several times throughout his career, in particular at the 1992 and 1995 America’s Cup. He has held over 10 individual World Speed Records and in 1998 Nick was the first, and still is the only, person to windsurf non-stop and unassisted across the Bass Strait from mainland Australia to Tasmania in a time of 22 hours 11 minutes.
On home soil his sailing highlights include an outright win in the 1996 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and winner of the Southern Cross Cup with Team Australia in 1995. For these and many other highlights, Nick was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 for services to the sport of sailing.
Nick is taking a break from training for his next major adventure project in Europe and returning to Australia for a short period in late April/early May.
He has offered to speak to CYCA members and their guests at a special evening at the Rushcutters Bay Club on Wednesday 3 May 2006 from 6.30pm – 8.30pm.
This evening is free for members and guests (non-members must book with a member). All the Club asks is that you please pre-register for the function so adequate seating can be arranged.
