2015 U.S. Adult Sailing Championship – The Manhattan skyline will act as the perfect backdrop for one of US Sailing’s most historic championships this Columbus Day weekend. Sailors from as far west as Hawaii and as far south as Florida will race over three days for the Clifford D. Mallory Trophy at the 2015 U.S. Adult Sailing Championship.
Sailing is one of the few sports where age is no limitation to competitive advantage. Fourteen
teams comprised of both men and women ranging in age from 19 to 69 will race J/24 class sailboats in New York Harbor beginning Saturday, October 10 through Monday, October 12. First raced in 1952, the 2015 U.S. Adult Sailing Championship is hosted by Manhattan Yacht Club. Regional Sailing Associations (RSA) have selected their respective teams to compete.
While the sailors will be competing under the gaze of the Statue of Liberty, viewing will be available from the shoreline of Liberty Park and from Ellis Island. This year’s event will include at least one past winner, Paul Wilson from New York. He will represent the Southern Massachusetts Sailing Association.
