2015 RS Feva European Championships – The final countdown begins

by RS Feva International Class on 7 May 2015
RS Feva class - 2015 RS Feva European Championships Peter Newton
The final countdown to the 2015 RS Feva European Championships and the first instalment of the 2015 RS Feva Eurocup series has begun. Three days of racing will kick off on the prestigious waters of Lake Garda on 23rd May.

To add a little adversity to the mix, a recent rock fall in Campione has meant that the Univela facility where the event was scheduled to be held has had to be closed due to resulting safety concerns. Fear not, the Championships are being seamlessly handed over to Gargnano, an equally stunning venue just 10km South of Campione. Anyone with accommodation booked at the Univela is being automatically transferred to another hotel nearby at no extra cost. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, but equally we would like to reassure all involved that we can certainly continue to look forward to a fabulous week both on and off the water.

Now with 76 entries from nine nations it’s set to be the biggest RS Feva European Championship to date with nip and tuck racing guaranteed in one of the most well renowned junior racing classes worldwide. The action kicks off in just over two weeks so teams across the Europe are headlong into final preparations hoping to stake their claim as this year’s champion.

Great Britain nabbed the top two spots last year, with Harvey Martin and Bobby Hewitt leading the charge by a significant margin. NikolStankova and VeronikaPiklova of the Czech Republic took the third step of the podium. With Harvey and Bobby no longer racing in the class, will Great Britain’s Jack Lewis and Lucas Marshall, who took second last year, pull the stops out to be crowned 2015 European Champions, or will one of the other hot-shot nations steal the crown from Great Britain this year?

This year will see an added dimension to the European championships as 2015 will be the debut year of the RS Feva Eurocup series which will be comprised of three events. The series will be kicked off by the European Championships, followed a month later by the Crown Cup to be held in the Czech Republic from 20th-22nd June. The grand final will conclude the series in CenterMuiderzand, Netherlands from 19th-20th September when the Eurocup Series Champion will be crowned for the first time.

Watch this space and be sure to keep up to date with the blow to blow action on the RS Feva Facebook page and on the website at website.
