The last boats have moved out of the 2011 Brisbane Boat Show as the focus on the Australian Boat Show circuit moves to Darwin this weekend.

This year’s Brisbane Boat Show showcased more than 100 exhibitors who brought in more than 400 boats, dozens of PWC’s, hundreds of engines and plenty of marine electronics and accessories.
Despite a rough start to the year for Queensland businesses and residents and very difficult trading conditions, Queensland’s Marine Industry pulled out all the stops and shone with one of the most diverse displays of product seen at the show in recent years.
'Given the significant economic challenges and uncertainty surrounding consumer confidence and spending patterns in the community, this year’s Brisbane Boat Show has stood as proof of the passion, strength and determination of the people involved in our industry' said Marine Queensland CEO Don Jones.
'Notwithstanding this, exhibitors have reported sales and strong leads across all types of product displayed at the show'.
'They have had to work hard for all sales, but again, this is a testament to the tenacity of the Queensland Marine Industry'.
'We all wish for better economic conditions but given the unprecedented events this year has brought the Queensland economy, the results achieved by many exhibitors at the show is pleasing'.
New product released at the show included the Sea Jay 5.9m Freedom Plate Xtreme; Kawasaki Ultra 300 X/LX Jet Skis; Cruise Craft Outsider 595 and the Yamaha Jet Boat – 242 Limited.
Just over 16,000 visitors attended the show over the four days.
'It was a good show and despite visitor numbers being down the boat buyers still turned up. All in all it was a very successful show for The Haines Group' said Greg Haines, Managing Director of The Haines Group.
'The show was a great spectacle and as good a trailerboat boat show as you will see anywhere in Australia and the sales results were consistent with the local and national economy we are all living thru at the moment' said Greg Nickerson, Managing Director of Northside Marine.
'Every Boat Show needs to have a balance of short term buyers and longer term prospects and taking the general economy into consideration this show did very well.'
The event’s new look Boating and Fishing Stage was popular with visitors. The interactive sailing demonstrations presented by Yachting Queensland were especially popular with the show’s younger visitors who were harnessed into the sail boats and taught some of the basics.
The Kids Marine Zone also proved to a popular feature of the show with over a thousand children learning how to catch yabbies, test their cast speed, paint plaster moulds and see crabs, sharks and fish across the event’s four days.
The team at Marine Queensland is now busy working on their next event, the Sunshine Coast Marine Festival, scheduled for the 19th and 20th of November.
