18ft Skiffs, Heat 3 of the 3 Buoy Handicap Challenge, was forecast to start in a light S to SE'r but was sailed in a shifty NNE'r which favoured going hard East on the beats to the 3 Buoy turn marks. With the exception of Asko, with James Dooran standing in for Marcus Ashley Jones, and Donnely, Alexandra South with small number twp rigs the fleet went number one.
Smeg becomes airborne over a wave - 18ft 3 Buoy Harbour Challenge - Heat 3
Mojo Wines, Chris Nicholson, Scott Babbage, and Ricky Bridge got off the start well only to watch Lumix, Jono Whitty, Aron Everett, and James Hozack and Fisher & Paykel, Grant Rollerson hitch up off the starboard lane boats and start to climb up to the hard right pressure coming their way. Lumix found the 'gold' first and the rest, other than Fisher @ Paykel could only battle for the Podium from then on. Smeg, Nick Press, Dan Phillips, and Dave Ewings sailed very well, beating the back markers to second on the Podium and Fisher & Paykel also went well given they had to wear a very tired jib and mainsail, until their new sails are delivered, they took third..... LUMIX takes two in a row and are now on a hat trick next Sunday.
Pick the Podium competition will start 10th November ..... Scratch race for heat 1 of the NSW Championship 2013 -14.
