Team Brunel ready for first In-Port race

by Team Brunel on 14 Oct 2017
Team Brunel - In-Port Race Alicante Team Brunel
On Saturday October 14th, the seven teams will go head to head for the first time for points in the MAPFRE In-Port Race Alicante. For Team Brunel, the In-Port race will be the first time competing as a complete team. Bekking: “Each of us will want to win of course but today is just about staying out of trouble.” The race begins at 12.00 UTC, 14.00 local time and will be broadcasted live through Facebook and the Volvo Ocean Race website.

The In-Port race promises to be an explosive start to the next race.

Bekking: just stay out of trouble

Bouwe Bekking: “It will be the first time all the guys and girls are on the water together. It’s just staying out of trouble, we learned that as well in the past races. Each of us will want to win of course, but even when you’re behind it’s still not over until the finish line. Just don’t make mistakes, let others make mistakes and you’ll get good results.”

Langford: it’s not the focus but we still want to win.

Kyle Langford: “Whenever we go racing we want to win, so we’ll be certainly trying our hardest but we haven’t done any inshore racing before. We don’t have high expectations. It’s not the focus but we still want to win.”

The race begins at 12.00 UTC on Saturday 14 October. Head to www.volvooceanrace.com to catch a live stream of the action or check out Facebook Live. The Volvo Ocean Race will go live at 1350 local time (1150 UTC). Join here.
