2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race - And they're off!

by Jonno Turner on 15 Aug 2017
15 August, 2017 - Volvo Ocean Race - Leg Zero Tom Martienssen / Volvo Ocean Race
The fleet restarted the fourth and final stage of Leg Zero at 0615 UTC on Monday – with the boats spread just over five minutes apart from front to back.

Leaders MAPFRE were the first to recommence racing at 06:15:00, followed by Vestas 11th Hour Racing at 06:15:45, Dongfeng Race Team at 06:18:50, Turn the Tide on Plastic at 06:19:07, team AkzoNobel at 06:19:41, and both Team Brunel and SHK Scallywag at 06:20:07.

The final stage of the pre-race qualifying series was split into two parts due to extended light winds which could have substantially delayed the fleet.

It began with a departure from Saint-Malo on Sunday and a coastal sprint across northern France, before this morning's restart.

The fleet will now race to Lisbon, Portugal, where they are currently expected to arrive on Wednesday.
