Groupama Race – Between the north and Nouméa

Beau Geste arrived at 7:09am this morning, taking the third position on real-time, behind Vodafone and Scallywag. The crew was very pleased about his race. The owner and skipper, Karl Kwok, compared the luxury and unspoilt landscapes from the East coast to Polynesia and the West coast to Cebu island in Philippines.

The crew was even more proud to be ranked above Scallywag on IRC results 'It was fantastic, the lanscape around us was amazing, I am pretty sure we will come back and race' sums up Cameron Ward, Beau Geste member.

Ichi Ban is the third monohull to arrive tonight. The only Australian boat of the race is expected at around 8pm. Please feel free to welcome the crew at the Yacht Club tonight.

Focus on day four up north

Charles Cali, Groupama Race Commitee Director in the first editions, reminds us 'there is no planned route on sea, thus you are free to sail'. Each year, the Groupama Race sailors prove it ! In the morning, except the three boats left on the East coast, the others were either in the Grand Passage or at the end of it. A south-west moderate wind leads the boats starboard on a straight line towards Nouméa.

Speed Marine MSC, unlucky with former her options, tried a new one. Just after the compulsory passage at the Grand Passage, she tried a brand-new option and entered in the North lagoon and it works… she’s going faster !

Moemiti, Furax Birdies 2 or even Kétal, the smallest boat which leads on ORC time, choose this option as well.
