Brig. General Harvey Schiller, Commissioner for the America's Cup has confirmed his departure from the America's Cup Events Authority with a short message on his Facebook page.

'For those who might not have heard, I decided to leave America's Cup after five years of service. It's been a great experience with many special people. Many new things ahead.'

Although Gen. Schiller was appointed three years ago in 2013, he had been in an advisory capacity to ACEA for two years prior - for the 34th America's Cup.

No official announcement has been made by America's Cup Events Authority about Gen. Schiller's departure from the organisation, or on his replacement.

It is believed, confirmed by the date of his Facebook announcement, that Gen. Schiller departed on August 31, 2016.
