2016 New York–Vendée Transatlantic Race - Vincent Riou (PRB) has finished fifth in the inaugural 2016 New York – Vendée (Les Sables d’Olonne) Race presented by Currency House and SpaceCode.
Riou, the French skipper, crossed the finish line off Les Sables d’Olonne on Friday, June 10 at 08:38:53 (French time). Riou covered the course in 11 days 10 hrs 58 mins and 53 seconds. He finished one day eighteen hours one minute and one second behind the winner, Jérémie Beyou, (Maître CoQ).
Riou sailed 3,690 miles at an average speed of 13,42 knots.
Note: the theoretical racecourse was 3,100 miles.
