2015 Dutch Shoe Marathon SDYC
Over 150 of San Diego's youth sailors will take over the bay on July 17th for the 46th annual Dutch Shoe Marathon. An iconic race in San Diego, the Dutch Shoe Marathon gives kids their first taste of distance sailing as they head from Point Loma across the bay to Coronado.
This regatta, hosted by San Diego Yacht Club and Coronado Yacht Club, is a safe, fun opportunity for many local sailors to get experience sailing in open waters.
With a swarm of small white sails weaving their way across the bay, the Dutch Shoe Marathon is truly an amazing experience to watch. The three-hour race will begin at 12pm. Though the best place to watch will be from the water, there are several spots on shore to take in the action. The best locations are Shelter Island, Seaport Village, Loews Coronado Bay Resort and Glorietta Bay.
This year, the San Diego Yacht Club has arranged for a very special live broadcast of the racing to bring sailor interviews and on-the-water video footage back to shore! The live broadcast will be hosted by Dan Bell.
