Oracle Team USA, the America's Cup champions made a rare journey today to sail out past the Golden Gate.
Last time an AC foiler went out into the tide ridden area under and beyond the Golden Gate Bridge was when Oracle Team USA pitchpoled their first AC72 in October 2012.
In this video shot by John Navas, Oracle Team USA in their development AC45 ventures past the entrance to San Francisco Bay, an immense waterway that pours out through the narrow entrance at the Golden gate. Tidal flows in this area are significant at 5-8kts or more, with substantial standing waves. The second video shows OTUSA sailing inside the harbour with regular foiling gybes and tacks
