Shadow Tourism Minister to impart marine strategy at ASMEX 2013

by AIMEX/Superyacht Australia on 19 Feb 2013 The Shadow Minister for Tourism and Regional Development; the Hon Bob Baldwin MP has confirmed he will speak at the 2013 Australian Superyacht and Marine Export Conference (ASMEX).

The Hon. Baldwin MP will speak at the ASMEX Conference on Wednesday, May 22 outlining the opposition’s strategy for marine export, manufacturing and tourism. With the election now on the horizon the ASMEX Conference delegates will be keen to hear of the opposition’s focus for the industry.

With the high Australian dollar, high cost of manufacturing, reduced global demand, increase of imported products and access to finance being difficult to obtain, it is imperative the Australian marine industry is informed of the opposition’s strategy.

Mr Baldwin has significant industry experience, having served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Industry, Tourism and Resources within the Howard Government.

Mr Baldwin's passion for the marine industry began prior to entering politics, having owned and operated a successful adventure dive tourism and national equipment wholesale business. Earlier work in the Charter Fishing Industry allowed him to become one of only two MPs to have held a Master Mariner’s license and he is therefore uniquely placed to understand the challenges and needs of the cruise sector.

ASMEX is the key Australian marine industry conference for those focused on export, the superyacht sector and those wanting to understand where the real opportunities lie for their business in the future.
