by Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on 21 May 2013
Bavaria Vision 42 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show http://www.sanctuarycoveboatshow.com.au/
The majesty and grace of sailing will feature at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show this Thursday May 23 to Sunday May 26, with national launches of prestige vessels and a vast spectrum of sailing product on display.

Joining an impressive 114 vessels on water, will be the Bavaria Vision 42 in an Australia-wide release. The 12.5 metre luxury yacht sleeps four and features an abundance of space normally expected from larger yachts.

This cruising yacht has been designed with the solo sailor in mind. The trim control operating all sheets and essential trim functions of the sails, can be operated with one touch of a button. In addition, the vessel has a push button auto tack control ensuring an effortless tack. Featuring large windows and overhead hatches the interior is filled with natural light and ventilation.

In an international launch, All4Solar will display the project of the world’s first solar powered cruiser catamaran fully designed and built in Australia. Despite many prototypes across the globe, this is the first of its kind to make it to production. The launch is expected in December and the vessel is expected to be on display at next year’s SCIBS. The 10 x4.5 mtre catamaran features berths for six people, full electronic power and electric propulsion system and reaches a cruising speed of 18 knots.

Multihull Solutions will launch for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere the Fountaine Pajot Helia 44 blue water cruising catamaran. This vessel is a positive energy catamaran with an Eco Cruising option and can also be fitted with embedded solar panels to maximise performance, plus a hydrogenerator and wind turbine. The yacht features a new lounge deck integrated on one level with the cockpit. Also on display will be the new Catana 42.

In an Australia-wide debut and to celebrate its 40th Anniversary, Hunter Yachts will launch the Hunter 40. The yacht features a new deck, high tech innovations and refinements, twin heads, twin showers, increased headroom in the aft cabin, a 54hp engine with sail drive and folding propeller. To complete this spectacular display will be the Hunter 50AC, considered a high performer in long range ocean cruising.

Yachtspot will delight Australian crowds with the new J/70 ramp launchable sportboat with carbon mast, boom and sprit. The J/70 recently won the 2013 European Boat of the Year, Sail World Overall Boat of the Year, Yachts & Yachting Best Performance Boat under 30 ft and SAIL Best Boats.

Representing a selection of Sail product exhibitors, is Contender Sailcloth/Seldon Mast which will have full rigging and mast on display as well as the unique manually operated reversible winch. This winch allows singlehanded sailors to trim and drive at the same time.

Also Tempo Spars arrives at the Show with the expanded aluminium product range as it is now the distributor of Pauger Carbon in Australia. This technology provides a reduction in both weight and wind.

Lagoon Yachts will use the Show to launch the new design Lagoon 400 s2. Italian designers Nauta Design has completely renovated the interiors ensuring a distinctly welcoming and contemporary finish.

Team Windcraft will also join the sailing flotilla with its popular 345 on display, Catalina launches the Catalina 385, Jeanneau will launch the Sun Odyssey 44 Deck Saloon and Leopard Yachts will have the Leopard 44 joining the flotilla.

For those keen on learning how to sail, John Bankart, two time winner of the Osaka Double Handed Yacht race will be at the Show with Sunshine Sailing Australia. John will advise on educational sailing programs ranging from beginners right through to advanced and superyacht sailing.

Sunshine Australia also joins SCIBS’s Women on Water program which returns this year by popular demand. Tickets from www.ticketmaster.com.au

Incorporated in this popular event are the Basics of Sailing’ workshops – these one hour workshops will include: Wind direction and wind awareness, How to set sails with regard to wind speed and direction, Safety, man overboard and radio communications, Knots and associated winch awareness.
