The 2014 fundraiser for the SSV Oliver Hazard Perry, Rhode Island’s Official Sailing Education Vessel, celebrates an Ocean of Education and Adventure, with cocktails and a Blackstone-catered dinner at Newport Shipyard, Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 11:00. The event honors shipyard partners Newport Shipyard, Senesco Marine and New England Boatworks, which have epitomized the commitment of Rhode Island’s skilled marine trades in the building of the 200-foot Tall Ship. Proceeds from ticket sales and a live and silent auction will go toward the organization’s educational programs.
Tickets must be purchased in advance:
here or contact Carol Hill, 401-841-0080.
When it is completed, the SSV Oliver Hazard Perry will be the largest Tall Ship of its kind to have been built in this country in the last 100 years. Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island, the non-profit organization building the ship is both grateful and proud to have been able to guarantee the project’s success through partnerships with foundations, corporations, marine industry businesses, educational institutions and individuals who believe in the value of this very important gift to the youth and the people of Rhode Island.
