Riviera, Australia’s favourite and most awarded luxury boat builder has welcomed Doug Nelson to the team and has appointed him as Offshore Business Manager.

As a veteran large project marine executive, Doug has a passion for high quality fit out and finishes. Coupled with his extensive international experience, Doug brings with him a wealth of manufacturing, design and marine knowledge.

Riviera CEO Wes Moxey said Doug would take responsibility for the design and manufacture of the Belize brand.

'Doug has more than 30 years industry experience and has achieved very successful outcomes on high-end luxury vessels and we are pleased to have him join our talented team,' Mr Moxey said.

'It has certainly been a productive year for Riviera with the purchase of the factory by the Longhurst family, the world launch of the 50 Enclosed Flybridge and 565 SUV, and more than AUD$58 million in retail value in new boat sales over the past five months. As production begins to grow we believe Doug’s skills will be invaluable and our team looks forward to working with him on the design and manufacture of the Belize Motoryacht range.'

Doug began his career as an apprentice carpenter and joiner in 1982 and upon graduating in 1986 he moved into architectural interiors. In 1994, Doug was appointed project manager, interior fitout manager and floor supervisor for Warren Yachts.

In 2003 he was promoted to production manager before moving to Azzura Marine as project manager in 2010. From 2011 to 2012, Doug oversaw the exterior installation of custom furniture at OceanCo, Holland on a 288 foot vessel from January to March, 2012.

Doug said he was thrilled to be working for Australia’s Riviera.

'I am proud to be working with Riviera and Belize as they are definitely industry leaders in this country and have a real international focus. I aim to use my skills and experience to achieve the maximum outcome of quality and efficiency in construction and fit out,' Doug said.

'We have some exciting new models that we are currently developing for Belize so the next few years are really going to be very busy and fulfilling.'

Riviera offers 15 different models from 36 to 75 feet across three model series Flybridge, Sport Yacht and the new SUV collection.

In 2012 Riviera celebrated the launch of its 5000th boat, the 445 SUV, a significant achievement in the company’s rich 33-year history.

Riviera also offers the bespoke Belize Motoryachts. Inspired by classic luxury details and timeless style, Belize Motoryachts has recently released the new 54 foot Sedan and Daybridge models.
