28 participants are currently attending the 4.5 day Intermediate Marina Management (IMM) course being held on Queensland’s Gold Coast. This is a record attendance for this course conducted for marina managers, manufacturers, contractors, consultants and service partners. Participants have travelled from around Australia as well as from New Zealand and Fiji.

The course is being conducted by the Marina Industries Association (MIA) and it is approved by the Global Marina Institute (GMI). The course is being delivered by recognised marina and industry professionals including Steve Sammes CMM from Gold Coast City Marina; Ben Schooley CMO from The Boatyard in Brisbane; Tim Smith and Jason Hunt from McInnes Wilson Lawyers; consultant Jean-Paul Mira CMM; Greg Price from Superior and Jonathon Dyer from the National Retail Association.

The course focuses on operations, policies and procedures in the marina industry and exposes participants to innovative ways of dealing with issues and challenges.

'We are very excited to have so many participants in this IMM course which delivers appropriate industry skills and knowledge. The peer group network formed at such courses can also be incredibly valuable for participants. IMM is an important stepping stone in a career path leading to industry certification for marina managers, operators and marina professionals that is recognized globally,' said Colin Bransgrove, MIA’s Executive Officer.

MIA President Andrew Chapman said 'Despite challenging times for some in the marina industries it is extremely pleasing to see such an investment in staff and the professionalism of our industry. The industry career pathway delivered through the MIA is a key component to sustain industry growth through improved industry skills, knowledge and networks.'
