North Sails clients enjoy CYCA Winter Series wins

Flying Tiger Down Wind Sydney Harbour Dave O'Connor
The CYCA’s Audi winter series always has some hard fought racing and this year was no exception. With good breeze for most of the series races with a shorten course were rare, allowing the handicap start system to work well.

In the tightly fought A2 division Warwick Sherman and his team on Occasional Coarse Language were victorious. OCL is a new Sydney 43 GTS and this is her maiden series win. Flying North 3Di sails OCL had a great series to record a clear three point victory in her division.

Steve Hatch and his crew on M were the winners in Division D. There were several sister ships competing in this division making the racing very close, however the M team sailed a consistent series with great performance in both the light and heavy air races to be clear winners. This year M was geared up with her North 3DL upwind sails and gradient spinnakers.

It was a very tight contest in Division E this year but Rod Gibbs and the team on Shere Kahn held their nerve to win by one point. Alby Pratt from North Sails has been working with Rod over the past couple of seasons to develop the Flying Tiger sails and Rod commented.

'Norths 3DL is where it's at! Our sails are so easy to set up and trim so we always had good boat speed and could focus on our boat positioning and the next wind shift up the course. In those puffy winter races this gave us a big advantage'

Division J non spinnaker was the biggest fleet this year and Glen Crane and his team on Lahara II had a great series to record the win with a very consistent score card carrying scores all inside the top five. Again the team at North Sails worked closely with Glen and this year Lahara II was powered by a new 3DL Main and Genoa.

If you are ready to maximise the performance of your boat for the coming season then now is the time to gear up and take advantage of North Sails seasonal discount currently available on all 3DL and 3Di sails.
