More Awards for Marina Industries

Judges of the new marina industry awards. MIAA
The Marina Industry Association (MIA) has expanded the number of categories in its industry awards that are conducted every two years.

MIA has traditionally held awards with categories for small, large and club marinas. The new format sees additional categories for individuals, marina marketing and environmental initiatives, marina restaurants and for marina suppliers. An international marina award has also been instigated to align with the growing number of marinas outside of Australia that are engaging with MIA.

MIA President Andrew Chapman said the awards have been expanded to 12 categories.

'This is a result of Boards desire to increase recognition given to key components of successful marina operations and to the wider marina industries. Well run industry awards are an important part of a healthy industry sector. The MIA marina awards now give due recognition to the wide spread of activities and factors that make for a healthy industry.'

The principal sponsor of the MIA awards is Club Marine. Greg Fisher, CEO from Club Marine said the marina awards are an important way to promote and encourage best practice within the marina industry.

'The many thousand Club Marine boat insurance members that use marinas value great service and good facilities. Club Marine is very pleased to be supporting these awards that help promote excellence at marinas.'

Entry into the awards is now open for the period up until 30th November. Finalists in the marinas and restaurant categories will site inspected over the holiday/new year period. Award announcements and presentations will take place at the Marine13 International Conference and Exhibition, 28-30 April 2013 that is being held in Sydney.
