We hear a lot about working the Social Media, and a lot of it is complete nonsense. But in this video conference twice America's Cup winning skipper Jimmy Spithill is joined by two other top professional competitors, as they discuss how they use social media, and develop a fan base - and then connect with those fans, to represent their brands.
Interestingly they don't just do it to provide fans the latest sports experience, but to show what else happens in their professional lives, and are looking to maintain their profile once they have stopped competing. One even livestreamed his recent hip operation to his fanbase.
This video conference is a great starter for people wanting to understand how to use social media, the various forms available and how it can be adapted to various situations.
Athlete Panel - A Conversation With Today's Digital Athletes is facilitated by Alison Haislip, with Jimmy Spithill, Oracle Team USA, Kevin Robinson - X Games 10x Medalist, and Paul Rabil - Professional Lacrosse Player.
