For the first time in the new era of the ISAF Nations Cup, Australia will be represented by two teams competing in the Open Division.
The first team lead by Ashlen Rooklyn, from New South Wales, earned their place at the 2013 ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final after winning the 2012 Australian Match Racing Championship.
Rooklyn will be joined by team mates from New South Wales and Western Australia including former Match Racing world number one Torvar Mirsky, Jeronimo Harrison, Sam Ellis and Jay Halligan.
A second Australian team lead by David Gilmour, winner of the 2013 Warren Jones International Youth Regatta, received a Wild Card to the Nations Cup.
Gilmour’s team is comprised of mainly West Australian sailors seeking to better their second place at the recent VASA Midsummer Sun Match, held in Finland.
Australia has only had one previous representative in the Open Division at the Nations Cup being Neville Wittey in 1993. However, Australia has historically had strong representation in the Women’s Division with Olivia Price coming away with the bronze medal in 2011 and Sue Walters winning the event in 1995.
The 2013 edition of the ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final will be held in Middelfart, Denmark from sixth to tenth August. To follow the Australian’s progress go to
