2012 Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous filling fast

by Kate Elkington on 9 Jul 2012
Multihull Rendezvous in the Whitsundays SW
The roaring success of last year’s Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous has seen entries flooding in for the 2012 event. From 27 August to 2 September, the picturesque Whitsunday islands will again be dominated by a fleet of multihulls.

With the primary objective of having fun and enjoying great sailing, the Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous is Australia’s most relaxed and popular multihull cruising event. The event is run as a true cruising rally through the Whitsunday islands with frequent stops for unforgettable social functions, exploring and relaxing.

Run by Multihull Solutions, the Rendezvous already has numerous confirmed entries and the 2012 event is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

Relaxed sailing rallies around the idyllic islands are punctuated by social functions including a Welcome function at Sorrento’s Restaurant in Airlie Beach, dining at Cape Gloucester Eco-Resort, the famous Prawn and Punch party at Whitehaven Beach, figurehead competitions, and a fantastic Presentation Dinner on Hamilton Island at the conclusion of the Rendezvous. Making the most of the breathtaking scenery, the week also includes activities such as island bushwalks, fishing, snorkelling and beach games.

With prizes on offer, it is anticipated that competition will again be rife for whoever best embraces the event’s spirit of fun! The Multihull Rendezvous continues to be hugely popular because of its formula that brings together serious sailors and leisurely cruisers in a spectacular environment.

Multihull Solutions managing director Mark Elkington said the Rendezvous was fast becoming one of Australia’s premier multihull events.

'Multihull sailors are a more relaxed breed and know how to truly enjoy themselves,' Mark said.

'Put a bunch of them together in a stunning location like the Whitsundays and you have the fool proof recipe for a sensational week of sailing and fun,' he said.

'The event is also popular as it is a great platform for multihull enthusiasts to exchange stories and advice about their catamarans and trimarans.'

'As the major sponsor, Multihull Solutions is present at the event to provide participants with valuable information on maximising the performance and handling of their boat, as well as tips on options to make cruising life even easier.'

The Multihull Rendezvous is not limited to those with their own boats. If entrants can’t relocate their own multihull or do not own a boat, the various Whitsunday charter companies offer a range of options so everyone can join the action.

Entry details and further information on the 2012 Multihull Rendezvous can be obtained by visiting the Multihull Solutions www.multihullsolutions.com.au/events/multihull-rendezvous!website or contact Rachel Haynes on 1300 855 338 or email rachel@multihullsolutions.com.au.
